Anya Tumbloo's work was chosen for the inaugural issue of Boundaries and Bridges.

On the outside I'm somebody's mother.
On the inside I'm searching for the answer
wishing I had my mother.
On the outside I'd love to help, I want so much
For you.
On the inside I think I bit off more than I can chew.
On the outside I'm happy so happy just look at our
beautiful blended family.
On the inside I have post partum & I am drowning in this house.
On the outside I'm angry and want nothing
to do with you.
On the inside I'm hurt and scared to lose this.
Wondering why you don't sit down for dinner anymore.
On the outside my house is a huge mess
lots of laundry piles and dirty dishes overflow the sink.
On the inside my kids are happy at least I hope and pray.
On the outside we have it all, house, yard,
Kids, careers, degree
On the inside we are in a civil war.

Boundaries and Bridges is a collection by incarcerated and unconfined writers from across the U.S. that explores connection and disconnection related to the justice system. This collection is supported by The Learning Inside Out Network (LION), an Alaska-based grassroots group that increases access to quality participation in artistic exchanges for people inside and out of the carceral system.
